    What is this Japanese Currency?

Can someone tell me what this Japanese currency is? I got in it when I bought a pack of 400 world currency, and I have no idea what it is. I was thinking some sort of military issue?

It's a JIM note (Japanese Invasion Money), issued during World War II. See the MP block letter, M means the note was issued for the occupied nation of Malaya (For each different country, the first letter was changed, ex. P for Philippines, B for Burma).

Here's a great link with the JIM examples: http://www.atsnotes.com/catalog/bank...topic-jim.html

Thanks Raider, wanted to get this posted in the right section in the gallery. Not sure where I should put it, might need to make a separate section?

I've run into that problem before trying to catalog the JIM notes (especially when it's set up my modern regions, only the Philippines notes fit).

Here's a link to my JIM notes slideshow, I was just think before on where they would fit on the gallery here. JIM Notes slideshow by superman6731 - Photobucket

You think it would be best to fit it under Japanese currency? Or for the occupied country?

It would probably be best as its own section in the Japanese section under "Japanese Invasion Money". And then once you click on that there would be a section for each nation (Burma, French Indochina, Malaya, Netherlands Indies, Oceania and the Philippines). Does something like that sound good to you?

Yeah. Will have to work on that this week. For now I will do Japan->Japanese Invasion Money and put everything there until a new section is needed. Thanks raider!

No problem. I saw the 500x500 size limit for the pics, is that for banknotes too? Most of my paper money images are around 600x300, are those ok to upload?

Raider the rules ask for minimum of 500x500, not recommended We allow up to 1920x1920 maximum.

    Thanks!

Japan never issued notes for French Indochina,as French Indochina was nominally under the control of a pro-Vichy French regime.

    I agree with putting these under Japan under the following;

Japanese Occupation of British North Borneo (unlisted in Pick).
    Japanese Occupation of Burma.
    Japanese Occupation of Malaya.
Japanese Occupation of the Netherlands Indies.
    Japanese Occupation of Oceania.
    Japanese Occupation of the Philippines.

It is certainly better than the shambolic arrangement that is up on Zeno - Oriental Coins Database - Main Index though.

    Aidan.
