    Cell4bill,

    These are not Chinese, they are Japanese notes. That is a 1944 100 Yen. The temple is Yumendono, which is the hall of dreams. You can read about that here: Horyu-ji. The man is Prince Shotoku: Prince Shotoku

    The reverse/back of the note should look like this:
