I am not very good at grading, I'll admit that. I'm going to take a stab and say it's AU55-58, but like I said, I am a horrible grader! I'd like to know others opinions on it. What do you think, rockdude?

Well it's in a slab by USCGS which I have no idea who they are. After a few comments I'll reveal what they called it.

USCGS Is United States Coin Grading Service. They are just people who self-slab the coins, it's basically the same as putting it in a cardboard holder. They usually over grade the coin to make money on them, especially on eBay and other places like that. If you are going to buy slabs, I'd stick with the respectable companies like PCGS and NGC.

The coin is AU/BU. It is hard to tell from those photos which appear to have been taken at an angle. The reverse highpoints (eagle' breast, left leg, and tip of left wing) all appear to have very light wear. The obverse is impossible to determine whether weak strike or wear is occurring on Liberty's left hand. If the coin has no wear then it is MS62/63 IMO.

Thanks all. They have a grade of MS64. Any good info out there on grading esp. Walkers?

Like I said, it's from USCGS. They are "home-slabbers" basically, and they overgrade everything to get more cash for them. I'd submit it to a respectable company like NGC or PCGS if you want a more professional grading opinion, but the cost of slabbing is worth more than the coin is worth for a '43 in that grade.

Tops = AU58 but there are a few scratches that really make it lower. Also, and more importantly, the coin looks as if it was dipped and polished
