    1954-S Washington Quarter--Opinions Needed!

I purchased this 1954-S Washington Quarter years ago because of the toning. The coin is extremely clean, supremely lustrous, and IMO, absolutely gorgeous. I would like to know what grade you guys would assign this coin.

Hey Lehigh, not sure how I missed this thread.

I'd say it's around AU-58. I'm saying this because of the wear on the highest spot of the breast feathers and wear on Washingtons hair wear in front of and behind the ear. What do you think it may be? And how'd I miss this thread

    Greg,

I don't know what wear you are seeing. The coin is not very well struck and the details are mushy, especially in the areas you have pointed out, but I promise the coin has no luster breaks and I am certain that it is mint state even though it is raw. The only imperfection I can find on the coin is the small tick on the eagle's right leg. Because of that tick and the relatively poor strike, I grade the coin MS66.

Man, not sure if it's the laptop monitor or just because of the resolution, but looking at again I'm going to say 64-65. Are you going to have it sent in?

Also, what TPG do you usually use? I noticed it seems like you stick with NGC.
