Daniel,
The big copper coin from the Ionian Islands is one very elusive coin.It is very hard to find them in any grade.
I have got all denominations represented in the British colonial series, except for the big copper coin & the hammered coin dated 1821,which is very rare.
The inscription on the reverse 'IONIKON KRATOS' means 'Ionian State'.

Hi Aidan. True that. These can fetch a good dollar on Ebay even in lower grade. I bought this last year for $35 USD at a local store, and it's in decent grade to boot. Fate throws me a bone every now and again.

Daniel,
That's a bargain! I have seen only 1 example of this coin, but it was priced at way over NZ$100 - a bit out of my league nowadays.
Hopefully,one will come my way.
Aidan.

Hi Aidan. Wow! Sounds like coins are even more expensive in New Zealand, than here in the U.S.. The guy I bought this from has a bunch of world coins that have been sitting in his case for years and he hasn't changed the price on them either. Lucky for me, huh?

Daniel,
It is hard getting a lot of older coins in from overseas,as we are thousands of miles away from the large coin markets of America & Europe.
That is one reason why prices are higher, but there's also the supply & demand factor as well that comes into it.
Aidan.

Hi Aidan. I never thought of that, but it makes perfect sense considering where you are. Also, if you figure in the demand for certain coins, that would certainly affect the price as well.

Daniel,
Krause's prices are too low on many world coins.I think this is the case with some of the colonial Ionian Islands coins.
