      Notes and Information
The 1939 Doubled Die Reverse Variety 1 is often referred to simply as the Doubled MONTICELLO Jefferson Nickel. There is dramatic doubling on both the word MONTICELLO and FIVE CENTS which can be seen with the naked eye and this variety is undoubtedly the most popular of the entire series. While scarce in mint state, a small number of uncirculated rolls were discovered in the late 1980's. Formerly FS-022, now FS-801, CONECA: 1-R-IV.
