Greg,
I think that the notes with the 'AA' prefix in the serial number were originally issued as uncut sheets.
What was left over must have had the sheets cut up by the Central Bank of Malaysia,& the individual notes put into circulation.
The regular 50 Ringgit will have the commemorative logo omitted,along with the '1957-2007' double dates.
