I'll be checking it out tonight, ended up going to dinner last night. I unpacked it, it's pretty solid, but it's not assembled yet. I'm using a Canon 5d Mark II and a Canon 100mm lens. It's about 2 pounds less then the max weight so it should be good.

    Will post tonight!

Got this monster assembled. It is rock solid and holds the camera very nicely. Going to take some shots sometime in the next couple of hours, only pulled out a couple of coins out of the bank and only a few "common" Hungarian coins here. Will post in a bit!

Not going to have as much time today as I'd like to mess with this guy.

I will take pictures of the stand itself on Sunday and some much better examples of images hopefully Sunday too. I think any of you with children can understand 10 days before your wife is due you are working on a lot of things

The shot was taken with a 40D, Canon 100mm with a very bad f/ stop (13) at ISO 800. I didn't realize I switched out of aperture priority before taking a couple quick shots, otherwise I would have shot at the 100mm's sharpest, which is usually 2x the fastest f/stop. With the 100mm it (the sharpest) is at f/5.6 and obviously with the stand we can shoot at ISO 100 also. Mirror lock was enabled. One 65 Watt GE Reveal Flood was placed @ 10 O'clock, with the light around 2-3" off the camera and even with the top of the body of the camera (not the lens). Diffusion was used.

It is not a good representation of the coin, as the coin is more of a chocolate colour, being BN. HOWEVER, the red shows excellent.

As anyone who tries to shoot Brown coins knows, it can be difficult.

The sharpness is not the best representation either, since I was shooting at ISO 800 (2nd shot).

Stay tuned for more, and I will do a more 'formal' review with some more use on Sunday.

For a very high resolution (but not original resolution) image, check out the full size in the gallery. I shot this with the 40d and not the 5d Mark II to take advantage of the 40d's crop factor, essentially making the 100mm lens or is it 160mm lens, allowing me to shoot further away.

Thanks Duke. I will take some images with a hand-held Canon Powershot, also to compare.

Thanks for the GL on the baby, it's our first, and we went through a LOT of misery to get this lil girl
