Anybody else see this? Eventually it will detect commonly used organic materials applied to coins including plastic resins such as Bondo, putty, caulk, wax, lacquer, varnish, acrylics, paint, ink, acetone, glue, and citric acid.
You telling me they will detect those things on a coin altered, say, 60 years ago?

Yea they scan it and can then recognize it later from it's "fingerprint". I thought it also could detect putty and such but I might have been getting confused at the time.
The technology used in forensics is amazing. What they are using is the same tech as crim labs use in arson fires. Detecting for accelerants.
