TPG PCGS and CAC consistency and results...

I will be posting the results of my PCGS and CAC submission results slowly. You'll be interested to see these numbers, as they were pretty surprising to myself. It will be ongoing, as there are coins still being submitted and some still being paid off, and a bunch sitting in the bank still.

Regardless. The results so far are quite satisfactory.

When I have a bit of time in the next couple of days, I'll be posting results. Meanwhile, has anybody has any inconsistent results with PCGS or CAC? I know that PCGS won't downgrade unless of course you cracked it out, but have you seen any major upgrades?

    How about CAC submissions?

I have nothing to share about this. But I am really wanting to see your results.

I think it will be better to just summarize, rather than post individual results. The "main" interesting results are this:

1908 $10 Motto was originally MS65 and CAC'd and it came back as a MS66 and did not CAC.

    However, a 1901 that was originally MS65 and CAC'd came back as MS66 and CAC'd. A 1884 25C PR65 that was Gold CAC came back as a PR66 and then CAC'd (green).

These coins all came back "The same" both in CAC and Grade terms:

Coin | Sent in as | Returned As

    1911 5C | PR67CA | Same
    1866 5c | MS66 | Same
    1864 1c | PR66CA | Same
    1870 5c | PR66CA | Same
    1883 5c No Cents | PR67CA | Same
    1873 3CN Open 3 | MS64 | Same

These coins were all CAC, upgraded, and all re-cac'd, too:

    1915 g2.5 | MS64 | MS64+
    1882 g$10 | MS64 | MS64
    1876 g$1 | MS66 | MS66+
    1936 10C | MS65FB | MS66FB

Those results are very interesting, to say the least. I'm not overly surprised that you picked up a point as much as I am surprised with the CAC results. Personally Jesh, I would put a call into John @ CAC and discuss these results and perhaps he will invite you to return them to him for his personal review. Just like any other company, when they first get going accuracy seems more constant, albeit for a short period of time. I think an explanation is very much in order and should be provided. I don't own many CAC verified Coins, but what I do have is on the very high end of the grading scale, modern coins or commemoratives excluded . Should you decide to pursue this with CAC, I and probably most if not all our members would appreciate hearing how this was received by CAC. Thanks.

I just find it interesting I got some full upgrades and some +'s and they still are CAC'd. I really need to go to the bank and pull out all my old paperwork of all my other coins returned from regrading and CAC. Need to document a little better

After re-reading your post, I don't know what I thought I was reading, but it seems I totally misinterpreted your report. Your re-submissions worked out in your favor. Just out of curiosity, what is the difference in terms of value on the PRF 65 w/gold vs PRF 66 w/ green ?
