1849 "California Gold No Alloy" Copy?

First of all, let me start by saying I am a noob here, so sorry if this is in the wrong place.

My family has a wide collection of coins...but perhaps the most interesting one is this coin. On the front it says "California Gold Without Alloy" with a flying eagle, and on the back it says "Full Weight of Half Eagle" as well as "COPY", "MG&N", "1849", and "San Francisco". On a legit coin like this, there would be stars in place of the COPY text (I've done some research but have some more questions). Even though this is a copy, I was wondering what it's worth...if anything. Most importantly I would like to know how I could test to find out what it is made out of. Thanks for your help in advance.

Whoa!!! I’ve never come across a coin like this. In my opinion, the only way to be sure of what you have would be to have it assayed be a reputable agency or company.

Here is what the legit coins look like. Notice the lack of the "Copy" text. Legit, these can run a few thousand dollars because they were made of California gold from the gold rush.
